A steel structure workshop is an industrial building that uses structural steel as its primary load-bearing system and is planned around manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, processing, repair, or maintenance operations.
What distinguishes a workshop is not its external shape. It is the relationship among the production process, machinery, material movement, lifting equipment, floors, foundations, ventilation, utilities, worker access, and structural system.
A workshop frame may resemble a steel warehouse, but the design priorities are different. A warehouse is primarily organized around storage and logistics. A workshop must support an active industrial process that may introduce concentrated loads, vibration, heat, fumes, cranes, service networks, and changing equipment layouts.
Terminology note: The word workshop has different meanings across markets. In this article, it refers to an industrial production, processing, repair, or maintenance building—not a small room used for light manual work.
